Michael Joseph Ruiz, 54, died Wednesday (June 10, 2015) in Sequim, Washington.
He was born on October 12, 1960 in Strong City, Ks., the son of Augustine O. and Micaela (Avila) Ruiz. Michael was raised in Strong City.
After attending Chase County High School, he moved to Wichita where he lived until moving to Sequim, Washington three years ago.
Survivors include his mother, Micaela Galvan of Newton; brothers Antonio Ruiz and wife JoEllen of Fairborn, Ohio, Augustin Ruiz and Raymond Galvan both of Wichita; sisters LuzMaria “Lucy” James of Wichita, Leticia I. Cantu of Newton, and Victoria Martin and husband Rob of Sequim, Wash.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by his father; step-father Alexander Galvan; and two sisters Beatrice Delores Ruiz and Theresa Maria “Terry” Gutierrez.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 26 with the Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 27, both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Inurnment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
