Mildred Ellen Zuercher, 100, formerly of Whitewater, died Friday (January 9, 2015) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on November 4, 1914 on the family farm near Whitewater, Ks., the daughter of Ida (Roth) and Arnold Zuercher.
She had been a school teacher for 41 years in Wichita school district. Mildred loved gardening, playing the piano and organ, as well as being with her nieces and nephews, but she especially loved her Lord and Savior, serving him however she could.
Survivors include her brothers Elwood Zuercher of Whitewater and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
Mildred is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don Zuercher; sisters, Alma Thierstein and Vernelle Androes; and brother-in-law Paul Androes.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday (January 13, 2015) at the Swiss Church in Whitewater. Interment will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery, near Whitewater, Ks.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.
