Monica Hankins, 51, of Newton, died Saturday (December 28, 2013) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on June 2, 1962 in Newton, Ks. She was raised and attended schools in Newton. Monica had worked in the housekeeping department of Newton Medical Center and later at Wal Mart. She married Terrence Hankins on October 24, 1998 in Newton.
Survivors include her husband Terry of Newton; children Chistopher Dochow, Brian Dochow, Crystal Eason and Giselle Dochow all of Newton; step-children Christy Rossiter, Joshua Hankins and Justin Hankins; her father and step-mother Emilio and Kay Monarez of Newton; her mother and step-father Katherine and Donato Ornelas of Derby; brothers Gilbert Monarez, Victor Monarez, Reuben Monarez all of Newton, Michael Monarez of Goddard; sisters Alice Monarez, Rosalie Eason, Gloria Monarez all of Newton, Laurie Monarez of Derby; step-brothers Martin Ornelas of Wichita; step-sisters Brenda McKellips, Nancy Carr, Margene Ornelas of Wichita; Gina Ornelas of Salt Lake City; Tillie Dellaquila of Florida; Melissa Hayward of El Paso, Tx.; nine grandchildren Alaze Eason, Mason Rossiter, Aryanna Rossiter, Aliya Rossiter, Rileigh Hankins, Landon Hankins, Kaiden Dochow, Boston Dochow, Jaelyn Dochow.
Monica is preceded in death by her sister Nora Hayes; step-brothers Ronald and Don Ornelas.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM, Thursday (January 2, 2014).
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday (January 3, 2014) both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
The casket will be open at the funeral home Thursday 1pm til 5pm.
A memorial has been established with Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
