Nancy Ann McFarlane, 84, died Thursday (October 13, 2022) at the home of her daughter in Newton, Kansas.
She was born on May 3, 1938 in Newton, the daughter of Morris and Alice Billings Hogan. Nancy attended Newton schools, graduating from Newton High School. She married Walter James McFarlane on January 24, 1956 in Newton.
Nancy had been the bookkeeper at the Newton High School for several years. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Nancy was well known for her cooking and baking. Over a span of 50 years she sold many pounds of peppernuts at Christmas time.
Survivors include her children Jamie Wild of Lompoc, Calif., Stacy Arellano and husband Jim of Newton, Randy McFarlane and wife Tina of Newton, Rob McFarlane and wife Nancy of Altoona, Iowa, and Ron McFarlane and wife Kathy of Wichita; 19 grandchildren; and 27 great grandchildren.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim on January 15, 2018; son Rick McFarlane; twin infant daughters; daughter Jacque Wedel; brother Dick Hogan; sister Jane Rutschman; son-in-law Jonathan Wild; daughter-in-law Billie Hamm McFarlane; and grandson Brian Arellano.
The casket will be open at the funeral home on Monday (Oct. 17) between 1:00 and 8:00 P.M. where the family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 P.M.
The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday (Oct. 18) at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home followed by the funeral services at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be in the Eastlawn Cemetery in Zimmerdale, Ks.
A memorial has been established with the Brian Arellano Scholarship Fund, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Caring Hands Humane Society, or Good Shepherd Hospice. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
