Nora Ann Hayes, 51, of Newton, died Thursday (Aug. 12, 2010) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in
Wichita, Ks.

She was born on December 2, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Emilio and Katherine Jaso Monarez. The family moved to Newton in the early 1960’s where she attended local schools. Nora married Richard Hayes on August 22, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma.

Nora was a very loving and caring person. She loved all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She didn’t know a stranger. Nora fought a hard battle, she wanted no more pain and was finally blessed when the good Lord took her home to be with her son and nephew whom she dearly missed for a lot of years. May God bless a loving mother, sister and friend whom we will miss somuch.

Survivors include her husband Richard of the home in Newton; daughter Theresa Wooley and husband Stanley,Jr. of Wichita; step-son Trent Hayes and step-daughter Rhonda Hurst both of Hutchinson; her father Emilio Monarez and wife Kay; her mother Katherine Ornelas and husband Don all of Newton; her siblings Gilbert Monarez of Newton, Alice Monarez of Newton, Victor Monarez and wife Terri of Newton, Monica Hankins and husband Terry of Newton, Reuben Monarez and wife Barb of Halstead, Rosalie Eason and Becky Caliendo of Newton, Laurie Monarez of Wichita, Shannon Wilkinson of Wichita, Gloria Monarez of Newton, Michael Monarez and wife Gina Monarez of Goddard; grandchildren Jessica Heibert of Salina, Courney Hurst, Montana and Taylan Hayes all of Hutchinson. Nora is also survived by seven step-siblings Martin Ornelas, Brenda McKellips, Nancy Carr, Tillie Dellaquila, Gina Ornelas, Marjean Herrera, and Melissa Hayward; along with the father of Nora’s children, Charles E. Chandler of Wichita.

She is preceded in death by a son Emilio John Chandler; nephew George K. Eason, Jr.; step-brothers Ronald and Donato Ornelas, Jr.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M., Monday (Aug. 16, 2010) with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2010) both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 1pm til 5pm.
