Oscar Roy Tieking

Oscar Roy Tieking,long time Newton resident, passed away Jan. 15, 2009. He was born on Dec. 24, 1914, in Concordia, KS. The youngest of five children born to Lena(Oberinger) and John Henry Tieking. He married Sadie Ellen Thyfault from Damar, KS, on May 24, 1937. Together they raised two daughters, Judie (Dan) Rogge of Overland Park, KS, and Joyce (John) Witsken of Monument, CO. Sadie preceded him in death in December of 1998.
Oscar was a barber for 46 years, an insurance agent, and a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church since 1947. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had resided at the Newton Presbyterian Manor for the past few years.
Besides his daughters and their spouses, he leaves 15 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 20th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

The funeral mass will be held following the rosary on Tuesday, January 20h, 2009 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at 10:30 A.M.

Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Newton.
