PATRICIA LEE HUME, 76, died Tuesday (November 15, 2016) at Asbury Park in Newton, Ks.

Pat was born on September 16, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Benjamin Craig and Georgia Knodel McMurry, Sr. She was raised and attended schools in the St. Louis area.

After graduating from high school Pat later graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Business. While working in the Bio-Chemistry Department at K.U., she met Joseph W. Hume. They were married on June 5, 1962 in Lawrence, Ks.

The Hume’s lived in the Kansas City area where Pat worked for Hudson Oil Company which would later become a part of Koch Industries. They moved to Wichita in 1972 where Joseph would practice as an OB-GYN for many years, Pat was the office’s business manager. She also operated Pat’s Plaster Craft Store for several years in Wichita.

After leaving Wichita in 1988, the Hume’s moved to Texas, until the early 90’s when they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. They returned to the Kansas City area in 1997 to be closer to their grandchildren. Joseph died on January 22, 2016, shortly after which Pat moved to Asbury Park in Newton.

Survivors include three daughters Kris Johnson and her husband Brian of Wichita, Kathy Shelton and her husband Kelly of Basehor, Ks., and Karen Hume of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother Craig McMurry, Jr. of Florida; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday (December 17, 2016) at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 7601 East 13th, in Wichita, Ks.

Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life for both Patricia and her husband, Joseph, who had died earlier this year.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Alzheimer’s Association of Central & Northwestern Kansas, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
