Paul C. Whomans, 80, of Newton, died Sunday (April 15, 2012) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on November 4, 1931 in Wellington, Ks., the son of John and Florence Myers Whomans. The family moved to Newton in 1940. Paul graduated from Newton High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
After being discharged from the military, Paul returned to Newton. He worked for several years for the Brunswick Company, traveling across the country resurfacing pool tables. Paul later went to work for the Hesston Corporation where he remained until retiring.
Survivors include brothers Robert Whomans and wife Mary Ann, Lee Allison and wife Judy, Howard Allison and wife Becky, Arthur “Tree” Allison and wife Sandi all of Newton; sisters Marjorie Keazer and husband Curtis of Newton, Rose Allison and husband Nick Kyle of Carthage, Mo., Maxine O’Neill and spouse Lynn Auernheimer of Canton, Ks.;his step-mother Hazel Whomans of Hutchinson;along with sisters Joyce Lancaster of Hutchinson and Mary Ann Yahnke of Norwich, Ks.; several nieces and nephews including his niece and caretaker Diane Schrag of Newton.
Paul is preceded in death by his father John, mother Florence Allison; and step-father Detmer Allison.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday (April 18, 2012) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 1pm til 8pm where the family will receive friends between 6 and 8.
