Rachel Minor, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Newton, KS.
Rachel, a long time Newton resident, was born May 21, 1916 in Richards, MO the daughter of John and Alberta Zimmerman.
Rachel and Robert Minor were married in Nevada, MO in 1941 and celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers David and Dean Zimmerman.
She is survived by son, Steve and wife Michelle, Bonner Springs, KS; grandson Bryce Perkins and wife Heather, Broomfield, CO; grand-daughters Bridget and Delaney Minor, Bonner Springs; great-grandchildren Jayden and Ethan Perkins, Broomfield; sister Shirley Higgins, Fort Scott, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rachel was a long time member of the First Christian Church where she established life-long friendships.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 19th, with family receiving friends 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 East Broadway, Newton, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 20th at the First Christian Church, 102 East First Street, Newton.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Christian Church.
