Rayford Roulhac aka “Bru”, a retired soul and longtime resident of Hesston, KS, died unexpectedly on September 1, 2021 at the age of 61.
Rayford is survived by his children, Brian and Kevin Roulhac; grandchildren, Bristyl, Elliot, and Avery Roulhac; and brothers, Barry, Charles, and Garry Roulhac.
Rayford was born on December 19th, 1959 to Edna Roulhac and Sampson Sally in Columbia, North Carolina. Known as “Famous Amous”, Rayford excelled in a number of sports. Earning a number of accolades in his small North Carolina coastal town.
He moved to Hesston, Kansas in 1977 to attend Hesston College. Rayford quickly became a staple in the community and was well known for his work ethic, generosity and a laugh that could be heard from miles away. Rayford was a proud father of two sons, Brian and Kevin Roulhac.
Rayford found a love for working with his hands and was known by many as the hardest working man they’ve ever met. He spent over three decades working a variety of construction jobs including, wood working, laying concrete, crab fishing and commercial roofing. Rayford retired to enjoy sports, fishing and spending time with his family and friends in 2013.
No one who met Rayford forgot his love for his sons, his grandchildren and his gratitude for each and every day. His charisma, laugh and smile will be deeply missed by all.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at the Son Wray Ranch (5420 NW 24th St, Newton, KS 67114) on Sunday, September 5th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. A sharing of his life and stories will begin at 5:00pm, with an informal come and go meal to follow.
