Raymond J. Salas, Sr., 88, died Saturday (July 23, 2016) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born on September 14, 1927 in Marland, Oklahoma, the son of Refugio and Pauline Diaz Salas. As a child his family moved to Newton. During World War II, Raymond served in the Army-Air Force.
Raymond had worked for several years as a cement finisher. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge. He past few years Raymond has been living in Hutchinson at the Hutchinson Health and Rehab Center.
Survivors include two sons Tom Salas of Coldwater, Ks. and Raymond J. Salas, Jr. of Newton; two daughters Cathy Salas-Bell and Pauline Salas both of Newton; one brother Rudy Salas of Wichita; one sister Joan Alvarez of Newton; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Manuel, Mike, and Moyses; sisters Connie Salas, Benilda Luna, and Anita Seeney; and a grandson Jamie Salas Koehn.
No services will be held as cremation has taken place.
