Richard Garcia, 58, died on March 1, 2011 at his home in Newton, Kansas.
He was born on September 29, 1952 to Margaret (Torres) and Guadalupe Garcia in Newton.
Richard was a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.
He had many hobbies in life. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football, taking walks and spending time with his grandchildren.
On March 21, 1972 he entered the United States Marine Corps and served a 2 year term. He was discharged on September 20, 1974.
Preceding him in death was his father and a granddaughter, Mahnesha James and a brother, Steven Garcia
Survivors include his mother, Margaret, daughters, Kristin Garcia and husband Mitch, Denton, TX, Jasmine James and husband Raymond,Wichita; 2 sons, Michael Parks, Derby and Jeffrey Jones and wife Melissa, Ft. Worth, TX; 2 brothers, Anthony Garcia and wife Tami, Newton, Timothy, Sydney, Australia; 3 sisters, Cynthia Becker, Newton, Trudy Garcia-Wadley, Newton and Annette Garcia, Newton, and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 7th, 1:00-8:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home,with the family greeting from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 9:00 A.M. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Newton, prior to the funeral mass.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the church, with Father Juan Garza Presiding.
Memorials may be made to the Richard Garcia Family Memorial Fund.
