Richard Oller

September 11, 1933 — May 8, 2018

Richard Eugene Oller, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2018 at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

He was born September 11, 1933 in a farm house where his parents, Ralph and Lois Oller were living in Canistota, South Dakota. He attended a one room school through grade school and attended Canistota High School where he graduated in 1951.

Richard worked on the farm with his father until he went to college at Omaha Baptist Bible College. He worked at Sears while attending college and that is where he met his wife Betty. They were married on June 3, 1954 at Garden Community Church in rural Hesston, Kansas, and they enjoyed 61 years together.

Richard and Betty joined Meridian Baptist Church in 1966 where he was a very faithful and active member. He loved to share the gospel, attend Men's Bible Study and visit people on a regular basis.

Richard worked for the city of Huron, SD until they moved to Hesston, Kansas, In November 1965 he went to work for the City of Newton Engineering Department until he retired in July 1996. After retiring he worked part time for Bumper to Bumper Auto parts for 10 years.

He is survived by Daughters, Becky (Sam) Tremaine of Boise, ID, Beverly (Dan) Dowdy of Milwaukee, WI, Barbara (Brad) Miller of Peck, KS, one son, David (Beth) Oller of Newton, KS, one sister Ruby Papendick of Pullman, WA,  19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren and many other cousins, family and friends,

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents and one brother, Gerald Oller.

Visitation will be on Friday evening, May 11, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Meridian Baptist Church Martens Center, The casket will be open at the church after 2:00 pm on Friday.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Meridian Baptist Church at 1130 W. Broadway, Newton, KS. Interment will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory near Newton.

A memorial has been established with the Union Rescue Mission and Bible Broadcasting Network. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.

Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
