Richard “Rick” L. Cannon, 51, died March 16, 2011 at the Harry Hynes Hospice-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born on February 14, 1960, to Lee (Draper) Cannon and Jack R. Cannon, in Rockford, Illinois.
After high school, Rick attended Kansas University.
On March 30th, 1990 he married Earlene Paul in Newton, Kansas.
Rick faithfully followed KU basketball and the Green Bay Packers. He had a love for animals and taking drives with his family and friends, chasing an occasional storm. He also had a terrific talent for art and created many pictures for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include, his mother, Lee, father, Jack, wife, Earlene, son, Nick, all of Newton; a son Jared, Salina, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Jon Ross, Newton; aunt, Phyllis Zellers, Newton; uncle, David Draper, Grandview, MO; aunt, Kathleen Lystrom, Hot Springs, Arkansas; 2 nieces and 4 nephews and 7 cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 8:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and Sunday, March 20, from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting visitors from 2:00- 4:00 P.M., all at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.
