Richard Wayne Stephey, 62, died on February 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 9, 1952 to Barbara Maurine McCabe and Richard Lynn Stephey in Arkansas City, Kansas.
Richard worked for the railroad as a conductor, retiring after 42 years of service with BNSF. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and other family members. One of his most memorable trips was one to Alaska.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Barbara; daughter, Tonya Stephey; sister, Cherie Donaldson.
Survivors include his wife Melody, Artesia, New Mexico; three children, Jonathan (Amanda) Stephey, Newton, Tiffany (Nick) McLaughlin, Newton, Pepper Stephey and Jason Leal, Newton; three sisters, Sandy(Ron) Morgan, Emporia, Diane (Mike) Nottingham, Wichita and Robin (Tom) Carmichael, Wichita; 10 grandchildren.
Family invites friends to greet them on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 3:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at their home, 925 Spruce St., Newton, Kansas.
Cremation has taken place.
