Robert Earl Coleman, age 93, of Newton, Kansas passed away at his residence on March 1, 2024. Robert was born September 28, 1930 in Newton, Kansas to James McCall and Rosa Ethel (Waggoner) Coleman.

Robert attended school through the eighth grade. He then started working and he continued to work until the time of his passing. Robert owned and operated a manufacturing company that made salt and sand spreaders. After selling that business he bought some properties in Newton and spent time repairing and maintaining them. 

He enjoyed traveling with his wife Loretta, visiting family in California and Oregan. Their travels included Vermont and Canada and they recently took a trip to Paris and London with a daughter and a granddaughter. But his greatest joy was spending time outdoors with the great-grandkids, playing hide and seek, going to the park, and letting the kids drive his golf cart.

Robert was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rosa; 3 sisters; 6 brothers; and 1 grandchild.

Robert is survived by his wife, Loretta; sons, Kenneth and Don of Newton; daughters, Doris Kammerer (Ron) of Goddard, Kathy Ditty of Valley Center; sisters, Lydia Owens of Arizona, Carolyn Ferrell of Illinois, 4 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor Ji Seok Ju officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or the Arthritis Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
