Robert B. Stamps, III, 85, died Saturday (June 3, 2017) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
He was born on October 20, 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Gwendolyn (Jones) and Robert B. Stamps, Jr. He was raised in Shawnee and graduated from high school there in 1949.
During the Korean War, he served as a Combat Infantryman in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. Robert married Treva Marie Stone on August 1, 1959 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They lived in California for four years, moving to Wichita in 1963.
Robert worked for Learjet/Bombardie as an engineer until retiring on May 31, 2002.
Survivors include his wife Treva of the home in Sedgwick; three daughters; one son-in-law; one grandson; one brother; along with several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held.
A memorial has been established with Caring Hand Humane Society of Newton and the Wounded Warrior Project.
