Roberta Ann Bainum, 87, died Thursday (July 28, 2016) at the Schowalter Villa in Hesston.
She was born on December 22, 1928 in Eskridge, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond and Lena Schumate Lake. Roberta graduated from high school in Saffordville, Ks.
Roberta married Donald A. Bainum on November 15, 1947 in rural Newton, Ks. They lived in Newton until moving to Hesston in March, 1959.
She had been a baker at Gillispie Meats for several years. Roberta also had worked many years as a cook in the Hesston School System. She attended Garden Community Church of rural Hesston.
Roberta enjoyed sewing for her family as well as doing ceramic work.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Betty Wolf and Mildred Clift; and granddaughter Stephanie Vogt.
Survivors include her husband Donald of the home in Hesston; daughters, Dona Vogt of Houston, Tx., Brenda Burkey of Milford, Neb., Linda Dreier of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Debbie Enlow of Jarrell, Tex., Kathy Maynard of Kansas City, Mo., and SanDee Quinn of Chubbuck, Idaho; son Raymond Bainum of Dwight, Ks.; one brother Ralph Lake of Hastings, Neb.; sisters, Dorothy Martin of Topeka, Ks., and Hazel Dewey of Louisiana, Mo.; 21 Grandchildren; and 14 Great Grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday (August 2, 2016) at the Highland Church Cemetery of rural Newton
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday between 1:00pm and 8:00pm where the family will receive friends between 6:30pm and 8:00pm.
A memorial has been established with the Garden Community Church and Schowalter Villa, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
