Roselyn M. Villarreal, 81, of Newton, died Thursday (July 23, 2015) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on May 24, 1934 in Newton, the daughter of Theodore L. and Mattie Jordan Rickman. Roselyn was raised in Newton, the family later moved to Sylvia, Kansas where she graduated from high school. She later attended college in Hastings, Nebraska and the University of Kansas.
Roselyn married Louis Chester Scott, they moved to California and lived until 1974 when she returned to Newton. She later married Cephas “Pete” Villarreal on May 17, 1979 and they continued to live in Newton.
She had worked at the Railroad Saving and Loan, Bethel Deaconess Hospital and later at the Newton Medical Center for many years. Roselyn attended the First Christian Church in Newton.
Survivors include her husband Pete of the home; two sons Ted Scott and his wife Joni of Bothell, Washington and Michael Scott and his wife Lisa of Newton; daughter Julia Caldwell of Newton; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Keith and Vernon Rickman; and two sisters LeMoyne Jones and Jean Houston.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday (July 27, 2015) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
A memorial has been established with the First Christian Church, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
