Ruth B. Robbins Huebert, 87, of Newton, died Friday (June 9, 2017) at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born on October 19, 1929 in Newton, the daughter of Philip William and Pearl Vidella Leech Gibbens. Ruth attended schools in Newton.
She married Robert C. Robbins on October 12, 1947 in Newton. They lived in Arizona for a short time before returning to Newton. During the late 50’s, early 60’s Ruth worked at Hehr Manufacturing in Newton.
She married Ronald P. Huebert on December 31, 1976 at the First Baptist Church in Newton. They later moved to Derby, Ks. He died on December 16, 2002.
Ruth returned in Newton in 2007. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, the V.W.F. Ladies Auxillary where she held several local, state and national offices include State President. She has also been a very active member of the Military Order of the Cooties. For many years she was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Wichita and a lifetime donor to the American Red Cross.
Survivors include sons Robert “Steve” Robbins and his wife Treva and Rodney Robbins all of Newton; daughter Rita Adams and Don Dixon of Sedgwick, Ks.; brother Philip “Buzz” Gibbens of Gardner, Ks.; grandchildren Jennifer Behee, Shawn Robbins and wife Shannon, Jessica Adams and Jade Adams; step-grandchildren Megan Wilson and husband Josh and Joshua Crawford and wife Heather; great grandchildren Jaxson Robbins, Jeremy Pless, Breckynn Behee, Wyatt Behee and Kimber Adams; and step-great grandchildren Dilan Crawford, Dauri Crawford, Arianna Wilson, Gage Wilson, and Maddix Wilson.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; infant son Duane; brothers Jim, Gene, David and Bill Gibbens; sister Naomi Drake; grandsons Jon Robbins and Jeremy Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday (June 13, 2017) at the First Baptist Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday 1pm til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 7 and 8pm.
