Shirley Jean Holmes Sadowski, died Wednesday (Sept. 19, 2012) at her home at Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
She was born on February 16, 1930 in Hutchinson, Ks, the daughter of Gerald S. and Coyla I. Stuckey Holmes. Shirley graduated from Newton High School in 1948.
Shirley married Richard E. Sadowski on May 23, 1948 at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. For several years Shirley had worked at Regier Title and later for the City Water Department. Shirley and Richard moved to Independence where they lived for 10 years before returning to Newton.
Survivors include her husband Richard of the home; sons Larry Sadowski and wife Anita and Michael Sadowski and wife Julie; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren all of Newton.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald E. Holmes.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday (Sept. 25, 2012) at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing as her body has been donated to the K.U. Medical Center for research.
A memorial has been established with the Newton Public Library and the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
