Sonja Ann Barringer, 61, died Tuesday (May 20, 2014) at her home in Newton.
She was born on April 7, 1953 in Deposit, N.Y., the daughter of Marshall William and Marcella Scrambling Barringer. Sonja was raised and attended schools in Deposit.
In 1985, she moved from Florida to the Newton area where she worked as an LPN for Kansas Christian Home and later for several years at the Presbyterian Manor. She went back to New York where she continued to work until her health began to fail. Sonja returned to Newton in 2012.
Survivors include her son James Barringer of Newton; daughters Barbara Cain of Hesston and Bonnie Manser of Newton; brothers Dick Barringer of Gage, Okla., Willie Barringer and Arnold Barringer both of Columbus, Ga.; one sister Carol Kennedy of Charlotte, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Sonja is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Walter Barringer.
There will be no services as cremation has been effected.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
