Switlana Korobka Briar, age 68 passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Newton Medical Center.
Switlana was born on April 28, 1950 the daughter of Anatoly and Anna (Mechetnaja) Korobka in Ulm Germany.
On October 5, 2002 she married Stan Briar at the Highland Trinity United Church of Christ in Newton, KS. Switlana worked as a Secretary, Administrative Assistant, and most recently in the insurance department at Newton Medical Center as well as Dillon’s in Newton.
She also served as past President of the Oil Secretaries Association of Wichita. Switlana was known for her outstanding desserts, love of family and sharing of wisdom with family and friends.
Switlana is preceded in death by her parents, Anatoly and Anna, and husband, Stan, and nephew George Holm.
She is survived by her sister, Luba Brinkman, brothers, Victor Korobka, and George (Virginia) Korobka, eight nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews, four great-great-nieces and nephews and her loyal companion, her dog Wolfie.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. with family there from 6:30-8:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Highland Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, 8322 N. Anderson Rd, Newton, KS.
Memorials are suggested to Caring Hands Humane Society or St George Orthodox Christian Cathedral and may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
