Trevor H. Lehman, Jr. 93 died at the Harry Hynes Hospice Hospital in Wichita on 16-January-2010. He was born 06-May-1916 to Trevor H. Lehman, Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Sumpter Lehman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Trevor graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1934. On 06-March-1941 he married Faynell Miller in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the United States Army in Africa. After being discharged from the Army in January-1946, Trevor and Fay moved to Newton, Kansas. It was then that he began a long and successful vocation with the U.S. Postal Service. It began as a Railway Mail Clerk on the Santa Fe working between Newton, Kansas and Ft.Worth, Texas. After many years on the train he spent a number of years in the Post Office in Wichita, Kansas where he retired in October-1978
Trevor’s retirement included many years of volunteer work for his church, Trinity Heights United Methodist, and helping others thorough his activity in many community organizations. He worked tireless hours for the Newton Meals on Wheels which was his passion. He was also a long time member of the Newton Lions Club where he held many offices and he was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellow Award , the American Legion and the National Federation of Retired Federal Employees.
Trevor is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Pankratz and husband Gary of Davenport, Iowa, and two grandchildren, Bryce Pankratz and wife Jennifer of Cary, Illinois, and Lori Pankratz of Davenport, Iowa. He is also survived by a brother Howard Lehman of Bethany, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Fay; two sisters, Lois Doyle of ElReno, Oklahoma and Velma Connors of Oxnard California; and one brother, Melvin Lehman of Chesapeake Bay, Maryland.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, 19- January-2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., with the family greeting from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, Kansas.
Services will be held Wednesday, 20-January-2010 at 1:00 pm. at the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton, Kansas.
Burial will be at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to Newton Meals on Wheels or the Trinity Heights United Methodist Church Building Fund.
