Vena A. Lynch, 103, of Newton, died Friday (Dec. 31, 2010) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born on August 23, 1907 in Peabody, Ks., the daughter of David and Lena Holden DeBois.
She married Kenneth Verl Lynch on April 24, 1938 in Newton. They had lived in Newton for many years where Vena had worked for Southwestern Bell and Axtell Clinic. The Lynch’s moved to Colorado in 1984. Verl died on April 30, 1992, shortly after which Vena returned to Newton.
Vena had been a long time member of Salem United Methodist Church in Newton.
Survivors include her nephew Dr. Keith Thompson of Paducah, Kentucky; niece Jeanne Kruse of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two great nephews; two great nieces; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Vena is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Mavis Lynch; two brothers Clive DeBois and Reeve Debois; and sister Venice Thompson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday (Jan. 8, 2011) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Private interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established with the Kansas Christian Home, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 9am til 5pm and Saturday prior to service time.
