Vernelle R. Androes, 87, died on November 6, 2010 at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born on February 4, 1923, in Newton to Ida (Roth) and Arnold Zuercher.
Vernelle resided in the Whitewater area, and graduated from Whitewater High School. She then went on to attend Bethel College, where she graduated from the nursing program. She served 48 years at the Bethel Clinic in Newton.
On February 22, 1947, she married Paul Androes at the Federated Church in Whitewater, Kansas.
After they married, Paul and Vernelle moved to Newton.
Vernelle held a membership with the Swiss Church in Whitewater, and the Christian Business Women’s Association. She also served as the camp nurse at Camp Good News near Hutchinson, Kansas for many years.
Survivors include her husband Paul, Newton; 2 brothers, Elwood Zuercher, Whitewater, KS and Don Zuercher, Lincoln, NE, and a sister, Mildred Zuercher, Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Alma Thierstein.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 A.M. at The First Christian Church, Newton. The Reverend Gary and Denny Bell will be presiding.
Visitation will be at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00 -7:00.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, following the service.
