Virginia E. Ford, 83, died on February 26, 2009 at the Newton Medical Center in Newton, Ks.

She was born on February 6, 1926, the daughter of Carl A. and Mary A. Buck Spurgeon, in Skiatook, Oklahoma.

On May 2, 1966, she married Max E. Ford in Miami, Oklahoma.

Virginia was a member of the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton.

Survivors include a daughter, Karla Winslow and her husband John of Hesston,Ks.; one sister Abigail Freese of Skiatook, Okla.; five grandchildren, Luke, Caroline and Audrey Winslow, Preston and Adam Ford.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; husband Max; and their son Harvey County Sheriff Deputy, Kurt Ford.

Friends may sign the book on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home between 1:00pm and 5:00pm.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 11:00 A.M., at the Columbus Avenue Church of Christ in Newton with Buddy Aldridge officiating.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established with the Kurt Ford Law Enforcement Scholarship Fund or the Maude Carpenter Children's Home. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114
