Virginia Rose Williamson Harms, 90, of Newton, Kansas died Thursday, June 13, 2024, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She died 5 days before her 91st birthday.

Virginia was born June 18, 1933, in Osawatomie, Kansas to Marion and Fredrica Williamson. She married Clayton Harms on October 25, 1958, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2020. They lived on a farm between Elbing and Whitewater for many years, before moving to North Newton in 2009. Virginia worked at Wheat State Manor in Whitewater, KS for many years.

Clayton and Virginia were members of the Grace Hill Mennonite Church of rural Whitewater for many years, later becoming members of the Countryside Christian Church in Wichita. Before Clayton’s passing, they attended Summit Church in Wichita.

Virginia was an avid reader, and enjoyed going to crafts shows/stores, shopping at local thrift stores, and spending time with family and friends. Virginia also enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash, polka music, watching movies, and going to dinner with her family. She also enjoyed going to weekly coffee socials at Wheatland Homes. 

She is survived by 3 daughters; Diane (Ron) Meyers, Lynette (John) Koetting, and Jennifer (John) Martinez; 12 grandchildren; Kimberly (Scott) Evenson, Derrick (Angela) Meyers, Brittany (Aaron) Chiappetti, Sheldon Goerzen, Hayden (Heidi) Goerzen, Luke (Amy Carroll) Lindell, Isaiah (Kelsey) Harms, Sarah (Aron) Beatty, Noah (Chris) Harms, Olivia Martinez, Emma Martinez and Jacob Martinez, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters; Beverly Haas and Delores Post; two daughters; Marlene Kay Harms (at infancy) and Wendy Jean Goerzen; and 1 son; Lonnie Lee Harms.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton, Kansas. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Mennonite Cemetery in rural Whitewater, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 5-8 pm with family receiving family and friends between 5:30-7:30 pm.
