Virginia May Callahan, 81, of Newton, died Sunday, (April 26, 2009) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
Virginia was born on February 5, 1928 in Newton, Ks., the daughter of Jasper Levi and Evelyn Lucille Buss Scott. She had attended schools in Newton and continued to live in Newton the majority of her life.
She had been a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son Thomas Lee Callahan of Newton, Ks.; two daughters Roberta “Bert” Porter of Halstead, Ks. and Yvonne “Bonnie” Callahan of Shillington, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren Tammie Leann Delp of Pennsylvania, Traci Lynn Callahan of Newton, Christopher Lee Callahan of Hesston, Ks., Kelly Callahan of Newton and Georgina Marie Wheeler of Halstead; and eight great grandchildren.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister Bonnie Lee Scott.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday (April 30, 2009) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1pm til 9pm, where the family will receive friends between 6pm and 7pm.
