WALTON — Devoted husband and father, Warren Boese, 87, passed away Saturday (May 31, 2008).
He was born Feb. 9, 1921, in rural Harvey County to Tobias and Susie Boese.
He grew up in Garden City and Newton. A World War II veteran, Warren joined the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1942, returning home in 1945 to marry Estella Gail TenEyck on Aug. 15, 1946. His career consisted of Fred Harvey Creamery, El Dorado Dairy Queen and Steffan’s Dairy, and he retired as postmaster for the U.S. Post Office of Walton.
Warren was a member of Walton United Methodist Church and the State Horseshoe League and was a volunteer fireman.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gail, and four daughters, Leah Dains of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Jill (Duane) Yoder of Harrisonburg, Va., Martha (Dennis) Siemens of Newton and Suzanne Linton of Iowa City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Ed (Laura) Yoder, Ben (Liz) Yoder, Grant (Suzanne) Siemens, and Erin (Joe) Martin; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil of Kingman; and two sisters, Dora Riley of Plano, Texas, and Jean Friesen of Boise, Idaho.
Siblings preceding him in death were brothers, Leon, Howard, Paul, Dale, Wayne; and a sister, Irene.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
Church service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Walton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Judith May and the Rev. Duane Yoder officiating.
Interment will follow at Walton Cemetery in Walton.
