Waunita Jane Johnson, 78, died Thursday, June 6, 2008 in Newton, Kansas

She was born October 25, 1929 in Newton to Daniel F. and Myrtle (Lowbough) Seeney. She married Ernest L. Johnson September 26, 1946 in Hutchinson, Kansas; he preceded her in death May 11, 2004.

She was a homemaker and also worked at Ralphs Grill and Randy’s Steaks before retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 971, Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 2516 and American Legion Auxiliary Post 2.

She is survived by two daughters Sharon Lavender and Judy Allison, both of Newton. One stepson, Jerry L. Johnson of Topeka, Kansas, Two sisters, Virginia Hensler, Emporia, Kansas, and Edna Harper of Great Bend, Kansas. Seventeen Grand-children and nine Great-Grand children. She was preceded in death by her son Johnnie L. Johnson, three sisters and two brothers.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved going to bingo!

Visitation is 1:00 P.M. till 8:00P.M., Sunday, June 8, 2008. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 9, 2008 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Newton, KS, with the Reverend Mike Ronan officiating. Committal service will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made out to American Cancer Society.
