Wilma Jean Harber (Stanford), 69, died on March 19, 2011 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Via Christi, in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on November 2, 1941, to Evelyn Stinson and Alvin Carder in Eldon, Missouri.
Wilma earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degree’s in Education thru Wichita State University.
She was a teacher at the middle school area for many years and also worked as an elementary counselor in the Hutchinson area.
Wilma held a membership with the New Life Assembly of God Church in Newton. She also had taught Sunday school classes and offered home bible school lessons. The church was very important to Wilma and a big part of her life.
She held a special talent for art. Wilma loved to draw, paint and also wrote children’s stories.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Darlene Brown.
Survivors include 4 sons, Gerry and wife Helen Stanford, Peabody, Terry and Ramie Stanford, Burrton, Darren Stanford, Burron, and Joseph and wife Sandy Stanford, Beckely, West Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00 -8:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 818 Washington Rd., Newton, Kansas. Pastor Roger Scantlin will be presiding.
Burial will be in Burrton, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the New Life Assembly of God Church, in care of the funeral home.
