Zelda R. Hiebert, 94, died on February 2, 2008 at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas.
She was born on March 20, 1914 in Marion County, Kansas, the daughter of Hester (DuBois) and Alvin Richter.
Zelda obtained her education in Marion County, and graduated from Peabody High School in 1934. She was employed in the homes of several families in Arkansas City and Wichita before beginning work at the reception desk of Dr. Charles Stees in Wichita. She lived and worked in Wichita for 39 years, before moving to Newton. Upon relocating she assisted her sister Dixie in caring for their parents.
Zelda held a membership with the Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, Kansas.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Kenneth Richter; two sisters, Dixie Richter and Frances Yager.
Survivors include her brother, Jesse Richter, Peabody and her sister Esta Hall, Burns, Kansas; two step-children, John Woicikowfski, Lubbock, Texas and Sally Bailey, Omaha, Nebraska; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, from 1:00 P.M. to 9: 00 P.M. with the family greeting visitors from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Peter Hartman presiding.
